Engrained operates by the principles of service leadership. Service or servant leadership is where leaders seek to ensure enterprise success by maximizing the capability of those who operate the value stream (in our case the guest experience). Front line employees are the ones who control and influence the guest experience. Leaders empower and hold those front line employees accountable to make the decisions in the moments that matter the most.
In a traditional leadership hierarchy, a lot of focus is placed on serving the managers at the top of the organizational chart instead of serving the guest and empowering the people responsible for that guest experience. At Engrained, servant leadership is about focusing on the guest and the staff who deliver the guest experience through a system of support and development versus command and control.

Engrained stands for things like unprocessed, chemical and preservative free, seasonal, local, family-farmed, sustainable, nutritious, naturally raised, and free of hormones, antibiotics, and steroids. We buy as much of our food locally as we can.
Made fresh, made local. Our beer is fresh and made without preservatives or artificial ingredients. We make all our beer on site. We don’t waste anything. We reuse the byproducts of the brewing process and strive to conserve our resources.
Reduce, reuse, recycle. Our building utilizes energy efficient equipment and an energy efficient design. We have an extensive recycling program. We strive for continuous improvement every day.
